The Dubai Mall: Dubai is renowned for its shopping malls, but this is the king of them all. This is the largest shopping and entertainment complex in the world and the most visited. It has above 1200 retail stores and other attractions like a 22-screen cinema, a gigantic aquarium, an underwater zoo, an indoor theme park for kids named Segaworld, an ice skating rink of Olympic proportions and the Dubai fountains to top it all. Two festivals are hosted every year in the mall, Dubai shopping festival (January and February) and Dubai Summer Surprises (July and August).

The Dubai Museum: Away from the glitz and glamor and intend traveling back in time, then visit the Dubai museum. Housed in the Al-Fahidi Fort, it was constructed in 1787 to defend Dubai Creek. Legend has it that the fort once served as a garrison, seat of government and prison. Among the collections found in the museum are the old maps of the Emirates and Dubai, old weapons and exhibits showcasing much of Emirati life.

Dubai Creek: The creek divides the city into two towns, Deira and Bar Dubai in North and South respectively. It is an important part of Dubai’s history and one of the few tiny remnants of their economic history. You get to see the Dhow Wharfage where the dhows dock to load and unload their goods after their travels.

Burj Al Arab: meaning Tower of Arabs, it lives up to its name being the tallest hotel and 4th tallest building in the world. It stands 321m tall. It was designed to look like a billowing Dhow sail. One of the most expensive and luxurious hotels in the world. This is a must see building even if you don’t get to lodge in it. 6. Jumeirah Beach

Jumeirah Beach: This is a lovely white sand beach located in the Jumeirah district of Dubai. It is very popular among tourists as it is ideal for picnics and all round relaxation. While on the beach you can take time out to visit the Majlis Ghorfat Um Al-Sheef, the summer residence of the late Rashid Bin Sayeed Al-Maktoum.

7. The Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House

The Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House: A great historic edifice erected in 1894. It is the house of the grandfather of the present Dubai ruler. The residence has been renovated and preserved as a museum. Inside you get to see many historic monuments, artifacts, and memorabilia of the old Dubai.
